April 30 Cover Letters and Resumes

Welcome! And Happy Monday

Today we are moving on with Cover Letters and Resumes with the LapTop Cart.
TTOC - the LapTop Cart has been signed out for you and is located in the library. You can obtain this from Mr. Wilson.

Assignment today: All Cover Letters (if you haven't already handed in your draft) are due today in addition to your draft Resumes.

TTOC - you will see a section of Cover Letters and Resumes on my Desk marked 1/2 - you can see those students who handed items on on Friday there.

Should you already be finished with your drafts you can go straight to completion of the remaining sections of your MyBluePrint.ca work.

Remember - you need to select a position from Work BC Revelstoke to direct your Cover Letter and Resume towards.

There are also samples for you to review in your MyBlueprint.ca accounts.

Re: Cover Letter - Min 2 Paragraphs. Paragraph 1 should have at least 3 of your personal job skills or abilities you have gained from your paid and or volunteer employment.

Click HERE for a sample Resume. Your resume should have a min of 3-4 bullet points with your duties clearly outlined for each of your past positions.

Note: Please write your Cover Letters and Resumes in Office365 vs. using the MyBluePrint.ca application as they will print much better.

Once you are done please print your Cover Letter and Resume Draft to provide to the TTOC.

If you are finished you can work on completing the rest of your MyBluePrint.ca sections.

Note: No other tabs other than noted above should be open during your work on your laptops.

April 20 2018 Sniper Action Photo Presentation + Term 3 Marks

Today we were lucky enough to have a presentation by CEO of Sniper Action Photo Mr. David Grimsdell!

He was able to share with us:

• The path to entreprenuership
• Post secondary recommendations 
• Upcoming job openings with Sniper

April 18 Work BC Field Trip

Today we had an awesome field trip to Work BC who provided us with a great presentation  re: the Work BC Site, Career Paths and also Resume Prep.

We will be diving further into the Work BC and also Cover Letters and Resumes next week :)

Welcome to Krista! Our local Revelstoke Death Doula!

What is a Death Doula? Why is discussing and prepping for death important?

TTOC Notes: Please have the front office print off attendance for you.

• Take attendance. 
• Note - our desks got moved last week by another teacher - hence - open seating until mid-week this week. 
• Intro of Krista - re: Death, Death Doula Position, Discussion Surrounding Prepping for Death. 
• Aid with the facilitation of guest speaker presentation. 
• Should there be any Journal Reflection Questions posed by the speaker please have students place their answers in their Journals - these are stored in a 1/2 box by the window of the classroom. 
• You will also have Ms. Mackenzie EA to assist you with this class. 

April 5th Tax Presentation + Living on a Dollar a Day Doc and Marks Review

Great presentation by CRA and RCU regarding CRA and Taxes. 

After Break - we viewed Living on a Dollar a Day - Netflix - and completed 5 Questions plus a Journal Response.  

1. What did the boys do each morning that determined their budget for the day?

2. What did the boys grow as a crop?

3. How old was Chino (the boy who had to give up school to work in the fields)?

4. What 'food' item did the boys add to their diet at about 15 days in that added more fat content/calories?

5. How many people were in Anthony's 'Savings Club?'
